About Kakes – Kakes Restaurant

Kakes is NYC’s first cannabis cafe and lounge, providing amazing food and incredible experiences in a stunning location in Long Island City.

Join us Thursday through Sunday evenings for a prix-fixe cannabis-infused tasting menu featuring a selection of our chef’s favorite dishes and mouth-watering desserts. After your meal, head out to our cannabis lounge with its retractable roof, making it the perfect after-dinner chill spot for any weather. Enjoy movies, comedy, art, or simply kick back and relax with an a la carte menu of smokables, edibles, and more.

At Kakes, we want you to have a night you’ll never forget (or barely remember--your choice).

For evening seatings: $150 per person (gratuity included). Price includes a two-hour cannabis-infused tasting menu (two appetizers, two entrees, and multiple desserts), and up to two hours in the lounge. Reservations required. Please provide the credit card used to make the reservation upon arrival. Our evening hours are strictly 21+.

Karol Zapata
Acclaimed pastry chef Karol Zapata has built a career out of disappointing her mother and dazzling guests at some of New York’s most acclaimed restaurants, including Jean-Georges, ABC/ABC V Kitchen, Great Northern Food Hall, Supermoon Bakehouse, and Patisserie Chanson.
A relentless perfectionist, Karol is never satisfied until a recipe is just right, whether that means feeding her family lasagna for six months straight or spending two years crafting her signature vanilla cake. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Karol started creating edibles, which quickly sold out at numerous pop-up stores and events all over NYC, wowing cannabis connoisseurs by providing the potency they demanded in a far more delicious package than they were used to.
At Kakes, Karol is taking the skills she honed in the fine dining world and bringing them to some of her own favorite dishes--and of course, her favorite desserts--proving that cooking with cannabis doesn’t have to mean sacrificing amazing flavor.
Raymond Ricco Ruiz
Ricco is a serial entrepreneur and a quintessential New York success story. His kinetic career has taken him from working construction and selling cologne out of the trunk of his car to overseeing the buildout of his own businesses selling multi-million dollar real estate. His previous business ventures include a barbershop, a clothing store, a gym, a print shop, and a recording studio, as well as numerous real estate offices around NYC and beyond. Always looking for ways to get into growing markets, Ricco was searching for the right opportunity to enter into the burgeoning cannabis industry and leapt at the chance to team up with Karol Zapata to create Kakes.
